Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed has backed the Egypt men’s football team to do well at the upcoming 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The Pharaohs are busy preparing for the Olympics with a training camp, followed by two friendlies against their South African counterparts next week.

Egypt will face stiff opposition in the group stage against Spain, Argentina and Australia, but Mohamed is confident that they will advance and reach the latter stages.

“Everyone is very focused in the training camp, and our goal is to finish in a good position in the Olympics,” Mohamed is quoted by KingFut.

“There is no easy or difficult group. All teams in the group will play to achieve their goals, and so will we.

“Wearing the national team shirt is a great honour, and winning a medal in Tokyo won’t be easy, but it’s also not difficult. We strive and leave the results to God.”

Mohamed was the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer with four goals and has just wrapped up a fine debut season with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 23-year-old scored eight goals in 16 league appearances after joining the Istanbul club from Zamalek in February.
