FAZ Super League promotion candidates Kafue Celtic are grateful for the motivation they received from their ex-player Patson Daka when he visited his old club for their home game on Sunday.
The Chipolopolo star, who is linked with a summer move to the Premier League from Austrian champions RB Salzburg, watched his former club beat fifteenth placed Mpulungu Harbour 3-0.
The victory helped Celtic consolidate the third position in the race for the top four promotion berths of the FAZ National First Division with three games left.
If Celtic can finish strongly then they will confirm their spot in the FAZ Super League for the first time ever.
“The motivation talk was very good from Patson Daka, he told the boys when we won the game on Sunday that we are not yet in the Premier League and that we still have three more games to go and that we can only start celebrating after those three games,” Celtic coach Robert Tembo said.
“He told the boys to just keep working harder in the remaining three games until we get the job done.”
Celtic are tied on 58 points with second-placed Kansanshi Dynamos and seven points behind Konkola Blades who have already secured their FAZ Super League promotion with four games to spare.
Chambishi FC occupy the final promotion berth on 53 points and have three points more than nine-time FAZ Super Division champions Mufulira Wanderers who are sitting in fifth place so, at the moment, it looks like the top 4 is practically sealed as one more win will secure Celtic’s qualification.
Out of the five teams, Celtic is the only team chasing a debut FAZ Super League qualification spot and they are on the brink of creating history.
