Fasil Kenema were crowned Ethiopia Premier League champions on Thursday without kicking a ball after Ethiopia Coffee failed to beat Wolaitta Dicha.

The result means Coffee can no longer catch up with Fasil who are on 49 points from their 20 games while Coffee are on 35 points with just four matches to go for either side in the league.

Wolaitta Dicha have proven to become giant-beaters to the old guard after beating the famous St. George last week and were determined to spoil the party once again and they did just that.

Ethiopia Coffee will now have to fight to secure second place in the league as the race heats up and there are many takers on their tail.

Fasil Kenema will take on Wolkite Ketema on Saturday knowing that they have already claimed the title and will enjoy the moment.

Fasil have had a phenomenal season, winning 15 of their 20 games! They have drawn four games and only lost one. They have scored a healthy 35 goals and conceded just 13 and have by far, been the best team in the league, comfortably leading the standings.

Coach Seyoum Kebede – the former Ethiopia national team coach – has led a great team inspired by the goals of star striker Mujib Kassim who will now attempt to try and win the golden boot award.

The Emporers will represent Ethiopia in the CAF Champions League next season for 2021/22.
