Blackburn striker Ben Brereton scored the winner in his first start for Chile as they beat Bolivia in Group A of the 2021 Copa America.
Brereton, who was born in Stoke-On-Trent, played for England at the youth level. He opted to represent Chile’s senior team as his mother was born there. He led them to victory over Bolivia at the Copa America.
The 22-year-old scored in the 10th minute when he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box. He then comfortably slotted past Bolivia’s Carlos Lampe.
After drawing their opener 1-1 with Argentina, Chile’s win puts them tied on top of Group A with Argentina on four points each.
Chile play a struggling Uruguay on 21st June and Paraguay on 25th June to wrap up the group stages.
