West Ham v Southampton – Prediction
Both West Ham and Southampton come into this game desperate for the three points. Southampton have been playing well, especially after the international break. Despite the improvement in performances, the Saints still find themselves only 14th in the table with just one win in 5 games. West Ham on the other hand have been extremely poor this season, their only points so far has come in a 1-0 home win against Bournemouth.
The switch to the Olympic stadium has certainly not favored their fortunes but will be hoping for a turn around on Sunday. This one promises to be an entertaining encounter which will see West Ham putting an end to their losing streak.
Verdict: (2-1) West Ham Win

Betting Tips – West Ham v Southampton
1. Result – West Ham Win – 3.00 (Bet 365)
We’ve been doing well in our weekly predictions, as of Gameweek 5 our success rate is around 75% with our bets. The Southampton game last week was the icing on the cake as we nailed every single one of our bets. While banking on a Hammers side who’ve conceded 4 goals against Watford and West Brom in their last two league games, looks a gamble it’s not a result that can be counted out. With that said we suggest you guys to stay away from the winners market on this one unless you believe in the bubbles.
Southampton Win – 2.60 (Ladbrokes)
Draw – 3.40 (Betvictor)
In each of the last three seasons, the team scoring first has gone onto lose this fixture
2. Over 2.5 Goals – 1.96 (188 Bet)
Hammers have been pretty poor in defense while Southampton have struggled as a offensive unit. We expect the Hammers to struggle defensively but should be able to find cracks in the Saints defense. Over 2.5 is a safe bet!
3. Both Teams Scoring – Yes – 1.77 (10 Bet)
West Ham have scored in all but one of their 14 home games against the Saints. The Odds are really not worth the gamble but looks a winning bet!
4. Anytime Scorer – Dimitri Payet ( 3.75 – Betway)
Payet along with Lanzini will be the key if West Ham are to break down the Saint’s defense.

West Ham
West Ham come into this game on the back of 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. Dmitri Payet came on a sub to score a 96th minute winner against the League Two outfit. The Hammers have lost their last 3 league games, conceding 11 goals in the process. It is the first time that the club has lost 3 league games on the bounce under Slaven Bilic. The early European exit and poor start to the campaign has forced the club management to put on hold new contract talks with the Croatian manager.
While conceding 3 goals against Manchester City is understandable, it came as shock as to how their defense crumbled against Watford and then West Brom. A Baggies team who had scored just 4 goals in their previous 7 league games, scored as many in 60 minutes against the Hammers. It was the first time since the 2007/08 season that the Hammers had conceded 4 or more goals in consecutive games (They conceded 4 goals in three consecutive games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in the 2007/08 season).
12 – West Ham have conceded two or more goals in 12 of their last 15 league games
West Ham head into Sunday without any recognized left backs as Arthur Masaku joined Aaron Cresswall in the injury list. The trio of Bakary Sakho, Andrew Ayew and Andy Carroll all remain in the long term injury list.
Southampton
After a slow start to the season, the Saints are finally finding their feet. Southampton come into this game looking for their 4th consecutive win in all competitions. The 1-0 win against Swansea last week saw the club keeping their first clean sheet in 17 league games. After the agonizing defeat against Arsenal [2] two weeks back, Southampton have put in a series of impressive performances.
The club has been defensively astute and have kept a clean sheet in each of their last 3 games, which included a 2-0 win over Palace in the EFL Cup on Wednesday. Charlie Austin contributed with a goal against Palace and now has 4 goals in his last 3 games for the club. The Englishman looks set to start against the Hammers in the place of a misfiring Shane Long.
Southampton has won only once in their last five visits to West Ham, all 5 of those games saw both teams scoring. The Saints have managed just 4 goals in their 5 games so far and haven’t netted more than once.
Southampton do have some injury concerns with Jay Rodriguez set to miss the clash on Sunday with a groin injury. Club record signing Sofiane Boufal is still recovering but should be ready by the time the league resumes after the international break. Jeremy Pied and Florian Gardos remain in the long term injury list.
