The Gambia national team coach Tom Saintfiet has named a provisional 50-man squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying games against Angola and DR Congo.
It is a really tight Group D going into the last 2 matchdays of the qualifiers as the Scorpions are first, tied on points with Gabon and DR Congo on their heels, behind by just 1 point.
The group currently stands with The Gambia and Gabon on 7 points, DRC with 6 and Angola with 1 point.
Tom Saintfiet will trim the side to 25 in the coming days before they start preparing for the AFCON qualifiers on 22nd March for their home game against Angola on 25th March, followed by a trip to Congo on the 29th.
Saintfiet’s side need a maximum of four points from their two games to ensure qualification for their first-ever AFCON finals.
The side could also secure their place by just beating Angola as long as Gabon defeats DR Congo.
