Tanzanian giants Simba SC are “ready to deal” with any opponent they face in the quarterfinals of the 2020-21 CAF Champions League, according to the club’s media officer Haji Manara.
Simba wrapped up with the group stages after a 1-0 loss away to reigning African champions Al Ahly. However, the Tanzanians had already secured the top spot in Group A after a fantastic performance under coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa.
After sailing into the quarterfinals of Africa’s elite club competition for the second time in the past three seasons, Wekundu wa Msimbazi will now target a place in the final four, which would represent their best-ever performance in the top-tier continental competition.
“We created a lot of chances to score goals against Al Ahly but we did not have luck on our side against them, however, truth be told, we were the better side in the match,” Manara wrote on social media.
“We don’t care whom we will be drawn to face, whoever comes against us, we are ready to deal with them. Secondly, we have already set the targets we want to achieve in the competition and that is what we are looking at.”
In a previous post he stated, “So far we are now rated among the top ten best teams in Africa and it is not me saying, but simply statistics after our heroics in the group stage matches.”
We keenly await the draws of the CAF Champions League later this month and Simba will learn about who they are facing when the draw is made at the CAF headquarters in Cairo.
