Euro Cup 2016 – Group C Betting Tips
It’s fair to say that both of yesterday’s matches weren’t up to expectations. On one hand Russia were mauled over by a Welsh side led by Gareth Bale and in the other game it was another game which showed how poor England are when it comes to major competitions.
As for us, Eurocupbetting.org we had both our predictions come true however missed the mark by someway for the England game in terms of the scoreline. So we’ll put our scoreline at 3/4 which is relatively good even if i say it myself and if you had followed some of the in game bets it would certainly have been worth your while.
Our previous predictions: –
Anyways off to Group C now which sees Ukraine taking on Poland & Germany taking on Northern Ireland.
All our betting tips will be highlighted*[sc name=”tabla-grupo-c” ]
Remaining Fixtures: –
Match 29
Ukraine X Poland
21st June 2016
Stade Velodrome, Marseille
Match 30
Northern Ireland X Germany
21st June 2016
Parc des Princes, Paris
Overall Group Summary: –
- Germany currently lead the table with 4 points thanks to win and a draw against Ukraine and Poland respectively.
- Poland are second in the table also with 4 points but has a inferior GD of +1 compared to Germany’s +2.
- Northern Ireland are third in the table with a win against Ukraine and a loss against Poland.
- Ukraine are yet to register a point and are bottom of the table with a GD of -4.
Permutations & Combinations: –
- Germany have ensured themselves of a top 3 finish and will be looking to go through the knockouts as the group champions which is possible if they win against Northern Ireland or if they draw and Poland lose or draw their game against Ukraine.
- Poland have also assured themselves of top 3 finish and have more or else confirmed their berth for the knockouts. A win against Ukraine will see them top the group if Germany either draw or lost to Northern Ireland or if they beat Ukraine by a comfortable margin and edge out Germany in GD.
- Northern Ireland have 3 points to their name and can top the group and even get knocked out of the tournament as things stand. If they are to beat Germany and Poland either draw or lose to Ukraine the they’ll move on as the group champions. If their game against Germany ends in a draw and Poland suffers a defeat against Ukraine then they’ll proceed as the group runners-up. Either ways they need atleast a point Germany to make sure they proceed as one of the top 4 3rd placed teams.
- For Ukraine the equation is simple, they can’t go through even if they win.
Group Based Betting Tips: –
- Poland to Win – 6.00 (Bet 365)
- Ukraine to finish bottom – 4.00 (Betvictor)
- Top 4 Exact – 5.50 (Skybet)
- Poland
- Germany
- Northern Ireland
- Ukraine
Yes we do believe that the Germans will win against Northern Ireland but the odds on offer for them to top the group is around 1.20 and just not worth the gamble. On the other hand backing a Poland side who have been impressive from qualifying wont be a bad bet considering how poor their final opponents Ukraine have been thus far. It’s the exact same reason as to why we are backing the the Top 4 order as listed above.[sc name=”sportbooks” ]
Individual Betting Tips: –
Germany
The current world champions began their European conquest on the right foot with a 2-0 win over Ukraine. It’s was not a trademark German performance with Ukraine giving them plenty of trouble but they held on and secured the three points. In their second game against Poland despite their best efforts were not able to breakdown the Polish defense and had to settle for a draw. Despite all the talent they have in their squad with likes of Kroos, Ozil, Muller etc the Germans have been desperately lacking upfront with Mario Gotze so desperately out of form.
Mario Gomez is the alternative but he too wasn’t too convincing in his appearance from the bench against Poland. They go into the game against Northern Ireland with the realistic possibility of slipping down to second in the table if they either draw or lose the game. It’s about time that the World Champions show their class not just to make a statement but to avoid more difficult Round of 16’s match up.
Betting Tips: –
- Top Scorer: –
- Thomas Muller – 3.00 (Coral)
- Mario Gotze – 6.00 (Betvictor)
- Mario Gomez – 6.50 (Skybet)
- Mesut Ozil – 15.00 (Paddypower)
- Overall Goals Scored/Conceded
- 3-4 Goals conceded (Bands Betting) – 2.10 (Skybet) – haven’t conceded till now
- 0-2 Goals conceded – 2.88 (Skybet)
- 5-8 Goals scored – 2.50 (Skybet) – 2 till now
- 0-4 Goals scored – 7.00 (Skybet)
The Over/Under bets on offer as of now has relatively poor odds so i would stay away from them.
- Overall Finish/Stage of Elimination
As of now Germans are the third favorites behind Spain and hosts France to win the competition. But a strong result against Northern Ireland will definitely put them in the pole position. If the Germans are to finish as the group winners then they’ll face the 3rd placed team from group A/B/F i.e either Albania, Slovakia or Iceland. If they are to finish 2nd then they’ll face the runners-up of group C i.e Switzerland. Any of the ties shouldn’t present a problem to the Germans.
However if they are to qualify as the runners-up then they face a possibility of facing Spain in the quarter-finals which they’ll want to avoid at this stage of the tournament. The Germans should win against Northern Ireland but Poland might just sneak through by winning against Ukraine by a better margin and this will result in the Germans crashing out in the Quarter-Finals against Spain and the end of Joachim Low reign as the German Head coach.
- Round of 16’s – 4.25 (888 Sport)
- Quarter – 4.00 (Betvictor)
- Semi’s – 5.00 (William Hill)
- Runner-up – 7.00 (Paddypower)
- Winner – 5.75 (888 Sport)
Poland
The strongest underdogs of the tournament and proving that their victory against the Germans in qualifying was not a fluke. This is the third time that Poland have competed in the European Championships and as each edition has gone by the team have doubled their points tally. In 2008 they finish bottom of their group with just 1 point and in 2012 they once again finished bottom with 2 points however this time around they already have double of their 2012 tally and look likely to build on it against Ukraine.
Poland has perhaps the tournaments most effective strike partnership in Ajax star Arkadiusz Milik & Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The latter of whom finished as the top scorer in qualifying with 13 goals.
Betting Tips: –
- Top Scorer
- Robert Lewandowski – 2.25 (Paddypower)
- Arkadiusz Milik – 2.25 (Paddypower)
- Overall Finish/Stage of Elimination
If Poland are to beat Ukraine by bettering Germany’s GD then they’ll move on the round of 16’s as the group champion and face the prospect of meeting either Albania/Slovakia/Iceland either of which shouldn’t cause them much trouble however then they’ll most likely meet either Croatia or the Italians and that will be end of the 2016 campaign. However keep an eye on the Polish side because the looks the side who are most capable of repeating Greece’s feat from 2004.
- Round of 16’s – 2.00 (Paddypower)
- Quarter – 3.00 (Betvictor)
- Semi’s – 11.00 (888 Sport)
- Runner-up – 21.00 (888 Sport)
- Winner – 31.00 (888 Sport) – My underdog pick of the tournament
Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland qualified for their first ever European Championships after topping their qualifying group and losing just one of their 10 matches in the process. Their opening game against Poland saw them making a return to a major tournament after their 1986 World Cup campaign.
It’s fair say that they were over whelmed by the occasion and were outplayed by the Poland. However in their second game against Ukraine they bounced back to their pre-tournament form that saw them going on a run of 12 game undefeated streak. Up next is the World Champions and Northern Ireland will be in search of one more point which will more or less help them into the knockouts as atleast one of the 4 best ranked 3rd placed teams.
Betting Tips: –
- Top Scorer
- Gareth McAuley – 3.50 (Betvictor)
- Niall McGinn – 3.50 (Betvictor)
- Kyle Lafferty – 8 (Paddypower)
Both Gareth McAuley and Niall McGinn of them have one goal a piece and i can’t see them scoring anymore atleast against the Germans.
- Total Goals Scored/Conceded
- 3-4 goals conceded – 3.25 (Skybet) – 1 till now
- 5-6 goals conceded – 2.38 (Skybet)
- Under 5.5 Goals conceded – 1.91 (Skybet)
- Under 3.5 Goals scored – 1.57 (Skybet)
- Overall Finish/Stage of Elimination
Northern Ireland’s progress depends on their performance against the Germans if they are to get a point from it then they would most likely qualify as one among the 4 top 3rd placed teams however if they are to be beaten by Germans and by a 2 or more goals then it will most likely be their end of the tournament. They will certainly been in contention after tonight’s round of matches but it’s essential for them to put in a good performance against the Germans and strengthen their chances.
I can see Northern Ireland making it to the round of 16’s where they will face either Wales or France and should be the end of the campaign for them.
- Group Stage – 4.50 (888 Sport)
- Round of 16’s – 1.50 (Paddypower)
- Quarter – 10.00 (888 Sport)
- Semi’s – 51.00 (Betvictor)
Ukraine
A 2-0 defeat against Northern Ireland in their 2nd group game meant that Ukraine became the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. They did well in their opener against the Germans but succumbed to a 2-0 defeat & against Northern Ireland it much of the same.
They have one more game left against Poland and will be wanting to leave their mark on the competition.
- Top Scorer
- No Goalscorer: – 2.38 (Betvictor)
- Andriy Yarmolenko – 7.00 (Coral)
I hope they score one but it doesn’t look likely against a brute Polish that shut out the German attacking might.
