Fantastic news for Ghana football fans as the Division One football league is all set to begin on 8th January 2021.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that football will commence in the country once again with the 2020/21 Division One League. Tentatively, the league will run till July 2021.

The initial date that was proposed by the GFA was 3rd December but that had to be rescheduled to give teams more time to prepare for the new season post the cancellation of last season due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Division One football league is the second tier of Ghanaian football and the division below the Ghana Premier League. The league features 48 teams spread across 3 zones with 16 teams in each of them. The winners of each zone are promoted to the first division of Ghanaian football.

Given that the first division commenced on 14th November 2020, the 2nd division teams that get promoted will have a shorter turnaround going into the next season so that could be interesting.

Ghana has a lot to be excited about with football being back at the highest levels of the domestic circuit so do tune in!
