Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan moved a step closer to winning the Serie A title as the Nerazzurri came away with a hard-earned victory against Hellas Verona.
The former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian scored what was the winner in the 76th minute, firing home after being picked out by Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi.
This win takes Inter 11 points clear of Atalanta who are currently in 2nd place. Inter also 13 points clear of AC Milan, who have a game in hand. Inter’s lead is substantial with just five games remaining and it is hard to see how they would throw away winning their title now.
Defending champions Juventus are currently in 4th and were held to a 1-1 draw by Fiorentina. Inter lifting the Serie A title this season will finally bring an end to the complete dominance that Juventus have had in Italy as they won the previous nine Scudetto titles.
This will be Inter Milan’s first Serie A title since 2010 and this will take them to 19 Italian league titles, 1 ahead of city rivals – AC Milan.
Spanish striker Alvaro Morata rescued Juventus from yet another defeat when he fired his shot into the top corner after spotting the Fiorentina goalkeeper off his line. This came after Dusan Vlahovic converter a penalty to give Fiorentina the lead in the first half.
Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus are at risk of missing out on the UEFA Champions League at the moment as a Napoli win would take them level on points with the Italian champions who are currently in 4th place.
