Edinson Cavani scored from the spot to lead Uruguay to a second-place finish in Group A of the 2021 Copa America.

Manchester United striker Cavani sealed the three points for his country. He converted his penalty in the 21st minute in the Copa America tie.

Uruguay came out on top of neighbours Paraguay who needed just a draw to finish second in Group A. This result means that Uruguay will face Colombia in the quarterfinals.

Paraguay, on the other hand, will face Peru who finished 2nd in Group B. Although the game ended just 1-0, Uruguay were utterly dominant.

They had the best chances in the game and should have won by a bigger margin. However, Paraguay defended well and limited their neighbour’s attacks.

The record Copa America champions struggled to break down the defence and lacked a bit of quality in the final third.

Uruguay has one of the best defences in South America and barely concede goals so they do have a good chance of winning the competition once again.
