Atletico Madrid scored 4 goals in 10 minutes as they run riot against Eibar in their La Liga clash that sees them stay on top of the Spanish league with 7 games to go.

Angel Correa opened the scoring in the 42nd minute and then bagged his second just 2 minutes later to put Diego Simeone’s side firmly in control of the match before the half-time whistle blew.

The league leaders continued from where they left off as just 4 minutes into the second half saw Yannick Carrasco find the back of the net after he beat the offside trap.

Marcos Llorente then bagged a couple of goals in the 53rd and 68th minute to finish off the game as Atleti recorded a resounding 5-0 victory over minnows Eibar.

Eibar currently are perched in last place and likely to get relegated to the second division but it will be interesting to see how things turn out now that the Madrid clubs and Barcelona are likely to join The Super League.

Diego Simeone’s side stay top, ahead of rivals Real with seven games to play. Barcelona are also in the mix as they can go within 2 points of Atleti and leapfrog Real Madrid into 2nd place.

Atletico’s title charge has stumbled in recent weeks as injuries to key players Luis Suarez and Joao Felix have left them light in attack.

However, Correa’s first goals since February gave them the perfect start and they wreaked havoc in the second half.

In a compelling La Liga title race, Atletico technically have their destiny in their own hands but may need to secure victories in all of their remaining games to win the title.
