Libyan club Al Ahli Benghazi have announced the signing of Ndifreke Effiong from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Akwa United on a 3.5-year contract.

Al Ahly SC BenghaziThe Nigerian midfielder has scored 63 goals in 8 seasons in the NPFL seasons with Abia Warriors and Akwa United.

The versatile midfielder has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 18 league appearances for Akwa United this season.

He becomes the first Nigerian to sign for the Libyan club.

Ahli Benghazi were in the same group as Nigerian club Enyimba FC in the 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup. Enyimba topped the group (Group A) with 9 points while Al-Ahly SC finished last with 7 points.

Ndifreke Effiong Udo represented Nigeria in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and is just 22 years old. He has a bright future ahead of him and this move can help him develop in a future bid of being shortlisted for the Super Eagles squad.
