Euro 2016 – France vs Iceland – Bet Tips
France vs Iceland – Prediction
France to Win – (2-0) – France vs Iceland Not many would have predicted this to be quarter final fixture. In fact even the Iceland supporters wouldn’t have expected them to make it out of their group but here they are in the quarter finals of the Euro’s where host nation France awaits them. As for France it’s finally time to show up they can’t rely on last minute goals from here on. Iceland will test them but the Blues should get the win if they are play to their potential.

France vs Iceland Bet Tips
- Iceland to Win – 8.50 (Bet 365)
France going into the overwhelming favorites with odds as low as 1.48(888 Sport) but Iceland have already shown they are no pushovers and considering the odds on offer for them i would place atleast a small bet on them cause sense an upset on the cards.
- Anytime Goalscorer – Antoine Griezmann – 2.50 (Ladbrokes)
The Atheltico Madrid Striker was their savior against Ireland with brace in the space of 3 minutes that helped them get the win. The French should be confident and should get on the score sheet.
- A goal scored in each half – 1.91 (Skybet)
This game will have goals in it and we won’t we surprised if there is a goal inside the 1st 10 minutes.

Route to the Quarter’s
- The host nation France qualified for the knockouts after topping Group A. After being drawn into a relatively easy group they won their opening two games against Romania (2-1) & Albania(2-0). The blues suffered a minor set back in the final group game when they were held to a 0-0 draw by the Swiss but still topped the group with 7 points.
- In the round of 16’s they faced Republic of Ireland where despite chasing the game for most of the time came out as 2-1 winners (as we predicted) to book a place in the quarters.
- Iceland qualified for the knockouts as the runners-up of Group F. After a couple of 1-1 draws in their first two games against Portugal and Hungry they went onto beat Austria 2-1 in the final group game to qualify for the round of 16’s.
- In the knockouts they were handed a rather difficult tie against England but still the came out as the winners (2-1) against all the odds.
Le Blues Betting Tips
The former two time European Champions will be making their 7th appearance in the quarter finals of the Euro’s on Sunday. Even though France were the bookies favorites to win the tournament prior to start of the quarter-final rounds they’ve been hardly convincing so far.
They had to rely on injury time goals to see off Romania & Albania and were given a major scare by Ireland in the round of 16’s . France however can be positive in the fact they’ve gotten the better of oppositions even when they’ve haven’t been at their absolute best.
France though should be aware of the Icelandic threat seeing as to how they outplayed & outclassed a strong English line-up. Up and until this point it has been individual brilliance more than team effort that has helped them reach this stage. Dimitri Payet was the savior against Romania while Antoine Griezmann stepped up against Albania & Ireland.
Defensively though France have been brilliant thus far. They are yet to concede a goal from open-play, in fact the Blues have allowed their opponents only 3 shots on target till now. Both the goals they’ve conceded have been through penalties.
This will be their 3rd consecutive appearance in the quarter finals of the major tournament after the 2012 Euro’s & 2014 World Cup. Didier Deschamps who had taken over the reigns as the national team coach in 2012 deserves praise for the way he has brought up this unit of players together considering their 2010 World Cup mutiny.
France can be confident of their head to head record against Iceland having won 8 and lost none of their previous 11 encounters. France have won the previous two tournaments held on home soil – 1984 European Championship & 1998 World Cup.
Though France have no injuries worries heading into the game the duo of Adil Rami & N’Golo Kante will be missing through suspensions.
France Top Scorer Bet
- Antoine Griezmann – 1.29 (Betvictor)
- Dimitri Payet – 5.50 (Bet 365)
- Oliver Giroud – 13.00 (Bet 365)
Antoine Griezmann seems to have finally found his footing in this tournament with this brace against Ireland improving his odds among the bookies to be France’s top scorer. We are with the bookies on this one and expect the Atleti striker to add more to his tally against Iceland. He is also the bookies’ favorite to be the tournament top scorer (2.88 – Coral) but we are still with Gareth Bale on that one.
Goals Scored/Conceded Bet Tips
- Under 9.5 goals Scored – 1.67 (Skybet) – Currently Six
- Between 5 -8 goals Scored – 2.38 (Skybet)
- Over 3.5 goals conceded – 1.57(Skybet) – Currently Two

- Semi’s – 2.38 (Betvictor)
- Runner-up – 6.50 (Bet 365)
- Winner – 3.60 (Bet 365)
We had picked France to get through to the semi’s in our group stage predictions and they are well on their way to do the same. If they are to make it past Iceland then Germany awaits them and that should be the end of their Euro 2016.
Euro Quarter Final Bets
So far we 2-1 up as far as our Quarter Final Predictions goes with Azzurri’s letting us down. But if you had followed up betting tips you should have made a handful by now.
Iceland Betting Tips
To be honest we’ve run short of superlatives describing Iceland’s journey till now. Wales after their quarter final triumph against Belgium had become the smallest nation to make it into the semi finals of a major competition. Wales’ record won’t last long if Iceland with a population of less than 330,000 manage to get the better of France.
Iceland’s success till now can be put down to the fantastic team spirit within the squad. Apart from Gylfi Sigurdsson & Eidur Gudjohnsen not many of the casual fans would have heard about any of their other players. There are some who critique Iceland due to their extremely defensive setup but they’ve have scored 6 goals till now which as much as their opponents on Sunday, France have scored up to this point.
Iceland have started that same 11 in each of their 4 games till now. The game plan have also been similar with their major scoring threat coming in from the 25-30 yard Long throw-in’s. Iceland joint Head Coach Helmir Hallgrimsson was quoted as saying “I will continue saying that we haven’t seen Iceland’s best game yet”. If this proves to be true Sunday will provide us with one hell of game.
Iceland are yet to suffer a defeat in Euro 2016 but haven’t kept a clean sheet till now. Along with Wales they are the only team to have scored in every game so far.
Iceland are free of any injury headaches and therefore should start with the same 11 as in the previous 4 games. Iceland however do need to be cautious as 9 of their starting 11 are on yellow cards with another yellow for any of them resulting in them sitting out the semi finals if they are to make it through.

Iceland Top Scorer Bets
- Gylfi Sigurdsson – 5.00 (Bet 365)
- Birkir Bjarnasonn – 5.00 (Bet 365)
- Jon Dadi Bodvarsson – 5.25 (Net Bet)
- Kolbeinn Sigthorsson – 7.00 (Betvictor)
Iceland have had six different scorers up to this point so we’ll continue backing Gylfi Sigurdsson who might strike one in from a freekick against France. Birkir Bjarnasonn is another good pick if you are looking for an alternative.
Overall Finish/Stage of Elimination Betting Tips
- Quarters – 1.14 (Bet 365)
- Semi’s – 7.00 (Bet 365)
- Runner-up – 34.00 (Paddypower)
- Winner – 41.00 (Bet 365)
They provided us with the biggest shock of this decade with their over England in the quarters, can they provide us with a even bigger against hosts France? France vs Iceland – Euro 2016 – Quarter Finals – they are already heroes in their country and might just have one last surprise in France. I’m banking on them reaching the Finals just for the odds on offer.
Past Meeting
The last time these two times met was in a friendly in 2012 at Valenciennes, France. Iceland took a 2-0 lead early on thanks to goals from Birkir Bjarnason and Kolbeinn Sigdorrson the Blues however fought back to win the game 3-2 with goals from Mathieu Debuchy, Frank Ribery & Adil Rami.
Final Betting Picks
For Iceland it’s been the perfect fairy tale script up until now. Qualifying from the group with a 94th minute winner against Austria and then outplaying a bunch over-paid/pampered babies in the round of 16’s. Up next is the home nation and a win will be absolutely incredible and setting up a potential tie with Germany. If they are to make it through then nothing stops them from getting the better of Germany in the Semi’s. France should get the win but may find Germany in the semi’s a daunting task to overcome.
