The 2015-16 season for Manchester United was their 41st consecutive in England’s top tier. It was a disappointing season under Louis van Gaal as they failed to secure a Champions League spot going into the 2016-17 season.
However, Man United did manage to win the FA Cup, the 12th in the club’s history but that was not enough for the Dutchman to retain his role as Manchester United manager.
Wayne Rooney captained the side with Michael Carrick as his deputy. They were the last 2 players from Fergie’s Champions League final-winning starting 11 in 2008, to have still been at Manchester United at the time. Antony Martial top-scored for the Red Devils in the 2015-16 season.
