Manchester-United-vs-Aston-VillaManchester United vs Aston Villa – Prediction

1-1 Draw, On paper this match looks like a no contest. Manchester United are the odds own favorite and are coming into this match on the back of their two best performances this season while Villa are a team that are still finding their feet under Tim Sherwood.

Villains have struggled to score this season especially away from home but we see them sneaking atleast one past the United defense here. Anything but a win for United is a gamble here but it’s a gamble we are willing to take because a team fighting for Premier League survival is the toughest opponent you can get at this stage of the season.

 Betting Tips and Odds

  • United start as the odds own favorite to win the match at odds of around 1.35.
  • The odds of a Villa win is at 11 and it’s something we suggest you keep an eye on Old Trafford isn’t the fortress it once was and a good team can beat United on their day.
  • Our best bet suggestion for this match is for both teams to score which is at 2.3

Manchester United

Marouane-Fellaini

The recent form Marouane Fellaini has forced United manager Louis Van Gaal into terming him “undroppable” (dailystar.co.uk)

Two games ago they looked destined to drop out of the top 4 with them having to face Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea in 4 of their next 5 matches but they’ve answered their critics by thumping Spurs 3-0 and beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield.

United have looked more settled over the last two games with the form of Marouane Fellaini being the key. Louis Van Gaal has even gonna on to describe the Belgium midfielder as someone that is “Undroppable”. It seems that some of David Moyes’s signings have started to produce including Juan Mata who scored a brace against Liverpool.

The game looks easy on paper but it could just be the game that give United the most problems. Villa are team fighting for Survival and they are most dangerous teams to be facing towards the end of the season.

If United can get 7 points from their next 3 games including this one then they can certainly cemented themselves a place in top 4 this season.

United have won 7 and lost just 2 of their 11 Premier League games this calendar year. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings against Aston Villa with 8 wins and 3 draws.

United have kept three clean sheets in their last four league games and have also won the most points (37) at home this season with 37.

Robin Van Persie will be absent again for United after being ruled out with an ankle injury. Luke Shaw however is set to return but the Red Devils will probably miss Chris Smalling who is suffering from a cold.

Aston Villa

Ron-Vlaar

Club Captain Ron Vlaar is set to return for the Villains after being sidelined for 6 weeks with a calf injury (skysports.com)

Aston Villa come into this game on a back of a 1-0 defeat against Swansea City two weeks back. Nevertheless the Villains have looked a totally different outfit since Sherwood took over and will be believing they can get something out of this game against Manchester United.

They are currently 3 points ahead of Burnley in 18th but have fairly difficult run of games till the end of the season with them still having to face the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City and Southampton.

The Villains have a pretty dreadful record against Manchester United with them having won only one of their last 38 league games against them. Their sole win came way back in 2009 when they won 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from Gabby Agbonlahor.

Villa despite their 4-0 win against Sunderland two games back are still the team with the lowest number of goals this season with just 19 from 30 games till date.

Villains defense will be boosted by the return of their captain Ron Vlaar after recovering from a Calf injury. Villa will also welcome back the duo of Okore and Joe Cole both of whom should be fit for the game against Manchester United.

Past Meeting

The last time these two teams meet this season the Villains held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw despite having to play nearly 30 minutes with just 10 men after Agbonlahor got send off in the 65th min. Benteke opened the scoring for Villa in the first half but Falcao equalised for United early in the second half

Where they are in the table

4th – Manchester United – 30 games – 59 points – (+25 GD)

16th – Aston Villa – 30 games – 28 points – (-20 GD)
