Tottenham vs Swansea – Match Prediction

1-1 Draw,
Tottenham have been dealt a tough hand with having to face Swansea City just a few days after their League Cup final defeat. They could either bounce back with a convincing here or they could go down and go down hard.

Swansea City have started finding there way again the win against United couple of weeks back seems to have helped them get their confidence back and will be looking to finish the season strong with the hopes of Europa league spot still alive.

This will be 7th game that the Spurs will be playing within 26 days. They come into this match on the back of a disappointing 2-0 League Cup final loss against Chelsea. It was second successive 2-0 defeat in four days which seems them out of the Europa league as well as losing a Cup final.

Spurs’ sole aim for the rest of the season now is a Champions League berth for next season. They are currently 7th in the table with 44 points and 6 points behind United in 4th but with a game in hand.

With Arsenal and Liverpool picking up their game in recent week Spurs are in real danger of missing out on Champions league action for another season.

Even a Europa league spot will be a tough fight with Southampton and Manchester United in the mix. Losing a final can have a demoralizing effect on the squad and Pochettino must ensure that it doesn’t affect Spurs on Wednesday

Spurs are winless in their last five Cup and League matches. Spurs’ have managed to salvage 16 points from losing positions this season and has the best record in the league in this regard.

Pochettino could rotate his squad around a bit from their team against Chelsea with likes of Lamela, Dembele and Fazio possibly starting the game.

The last time the Swans won a league point at Spurs’ was way back in 1930 (85 years ago) when the match between the two ended 1-1 win but many will agree that this is their best chance in recent memory to right that record.

Swans have been terrific all season and with last week’s win against  Burnley reached the magical number of 40 points for the season. They are looking set to surpass their highest ever Premier League points tally of 47 and might even have a chance at Europe next season.

They are 6 points behind Southampton who are in 6th but even a 7th place finish may even fetch them European spot depending upon the winner of the FA Cup.

Swans are one a two game winning run with wins against Manchester united and Burnley. Swans have dropped 16 points from winning positions this season.

Swansea will be boosted by the return of Gylfi Sigurdsson who missed the Burnley win due to a hamstring injury.
