Swans vs Manchester UnitedPrediction

Swansea City vs Manchester United – Swansea City to win it 1-0. This here is a bold prediction, the Swans haven’t been great off-late but so has been United, I see United’s “luck” finally running out here and Swans to do a double over the Devils.

Swansea had a fantastic start to the season that saw them in European spots for a number of weeks but since the start of the year Swansea have been in an awful run of form.

They have only managed to pick-up 6 points from their last 6 league games this calendar year. They have only won once in those 6 matches which was against Southampton but because of their strong start to the season Swansea are still in the top half of the table sitting comfortably in 9th spot.

They don’t look like they’ll be pushing the top teams in the league but a solid mid-table finish should be considered a big achievement for Garry Monk’s men who ever relegation contenders in the eyes of many pundits at the start of the season.

One of the moments of the season so far has been their 2-1 win over United in the opening day of the season. Swansea are bit short upfront after the departure of Wilfred Bony and have struggled to find goals in the last five matches without him (Just 3).

Swansea should be boosted by the return of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Suspension. The Duo of Routledge and Emens are fit again for the Welsh team but Kyle Bartley has been ruled out for 6 weeks with a knee injury.

Swansea’s win against United in the opening day of the season was their first win at Old Trafford in their history. Swansea has not scored more than one per game in their last 11 Premier League games.

Manchester United

The dubious case of Louis Van Gaal

The dubious case of Louis Van Gaal

United come into the game on the back of a hard fought 3-1 victory over Preston North End in the 5th round of the FA Cup. United are third in the league two points clear of 5th placed Arsenal and 5 points behind 2nd placed Manchester City.

Manchester United to be fair have not been playing ‘well’ for some time now but has managed to pick up results even through their struggles, they have lost just once in their last 19 matches and won 13 of those 19. But there is still strong criticism directed towards Louis Van Gaal and his tactics it seems that the Dutch coach is still scratching his head over his best 11.

The United are blessed with match-winners that is the main reason they find themselves in the good position they are in now. If Louis Van Gaal doesn’t get his act together their luck may soon run out. They are just a few bad performances away from dropping out of the top 4.

United will be boosted by the return of Striker Robin Van Persie who missed the FA Cup tie versus Preston. Phil Jones will also be available for the Reds.

The Reds’ opening day defeat to the Swans at home was Louis Van Gaal’s first official match in charge. An amazing bit of stat heading into this game is that Wayne Rooney has not had a single on target in the league during this calendar year.

Past Meeting

The last time these two teams met this season Swansea upset the English giants at Old Trafford with a 2-1 win with goals from Ki and Sigurdsson. United’s lone goal was scored by Wayne Rooney.
