The next month is going to crucial for Louis Van Gaal as a manager, United have been a handed a difficult run of games with them having to face four of the top 6 in the league over the next five matches.

LVG has already declared that a Champions League spot is more important than winning the FA Cup but the fans will tend to disagree here. The FA Cup will not get you a Champions League spot but winning the oldest football competition brings with it a sense of pride among the fans.

Manchester United faces the task of facing the current FA Cup holders if they are to move on in the competition. United do have pretty good record against the Gunners in all competition winning 11 out of their 15 meetings in all competition and losing just one of them.

United Striker Robin Van Persie will miss the clash against his former side as he has not recovered from his ankle injury.

The other absentee for United will be defender Johnny Evans who was banned by the FA for spitting on Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse.

Arsenal

The current FA Cup holders come into this match after edging past QPR 2-1 in their Premier league clash on Thursday.

Arsenal can be unbeatable on their day but when they are bad they can be as bad as any team in the world. They have nine out of their last 11 league matches and losing two of them. They wounds of their horrific show against AS Monaco still remain fresh.

In the FA Cup Arsenal have been impressive so far, they won the 3rd round tie against fellow Premier league rivals Hull City 2-0.

Arsenal had a tough time in the 4th round though they won the match 3-2 but they were pushed right till end by the lower tier team. The 5th round was a routinely affair were they breezed past Middlesbrough 2-0.

This will be 14th meeting between these two English giants in the FA Cup and till now Arsenal have won six of those matches and United 7. In the finals of the competition Arsenal have won on both occasions they’ve met

Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista will remain sidelined for the Gunners after he was ruled out for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury.

However Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and defender Nacho Monreal could make their returns for the Gunners.
