Manchester City vs West Brom

Manchester City vs West Brom – Prediction

Manchester City to win 2-0, It’s a game they should win and probably will 9 out of 10 times but they are looking low on confidence and the Champions League exit against Barcelona midweek wouldn’t have helped in that respect. Manchester City have to win against West Brom to keep pressure on Chelsea and at the same time fend off Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool who’ve all set their eyes on a second place finish.

We are expecting City to bounce back against West Brom especially since they’ll be playing in front of the Etihad Stadium. West Brom has lost just twice in their nine league games under Tony Pulis management. They have almost ensured themselves Premier League safety and can play with freedom for the rest of the season.

Betting Tips

  • Manchester City maybe struggling at the moment but they’ll bounce back against West Brom.
  • Manchester City should strike in the first half and we expect them to be winning Half-Time/Full-Time.
  • We can’t see a lot of goals in this and you should probably consider going for a under 2.5 bet.
  • West Brom generally tend to shut-up shop away from home and we expect them to do the same at the Etihad Stadium and considering their miserable away scoring form this season we expect City to keep a clean sheet.

Manuel-Pellegrini

The game against West Brom will be Manuel Pellegrini’s 100th game in charge of City (Telegraph)

You feel time is ticking for Manuel Pellegrini their loss against Barcelona on Wednesday meant that they’ve now lost four out of their last five games in all competitions.

Two of those losses that came in the league against Liverpool and Burnley have almost ended their hopes of retaining the Premier League title. Chelsea are six points ahead of them with a game in hand.

They are now getting dragged into the top 4 fight and are now just one point ahead of Arsenal in 3rd and two points ahead of Manchester United in 4th. A loss against Baggies on Saturday could see them slipping to 4th in the table if Arsenal and United win their respective games.

The game against the Baggies will be Manuel Pellegrini’s 100th game in charge of the Citizens but rumors are suggesting Pellegrini will have the same fate of ex-City boss Roberto Mancini who was sacked after failing to win a trophy in his second season with them.

City have only managed to acquire 15 points from a possible 30 this calendar year however they do have a really good record against the Baggies having won 9 out of their last 10 meetings ( 1 Draw).

Pellegrini will probably mix his team around from the one that lost to Barca on Wednesday with the likes of Gael Clichy, Wilfred Bony and Pablo Zabaleta probably to start for City.

West Brom

Ben-Foster

West Brom keeper Ben Foster has been ruled out for a month with Knee ligament damage (Telegraph)

Another Mission Impossible has almost been accomplished by Tony Pulis. With their win against Stoke City last Saturday the Baggies are now 8 points clear of the drop zone and looking set for another season of Premier League football.

The Baggies have picked up 15 points from a possible 27 since Pulis took over and have lost only two of the 9 games during his time. It’s a remarkable feat from the part of Tony Pulis who has never been relegated in his 23 years of management.

West Brom have never won a game at the Etihad Stadium losing their last 5 visits there. The Baggies have managed to score only 9 away goals all season which is the second lowest in the league behind Aston Villa.

West Brom will miss the services of Ben Foster who has been ruled out for nearly a month with knee cartilage damage. The other absentee in the West Brom ranks will be Chris brunt who serves a one match suspension but West Brom can take respite in the fact that Claudio Yacob is back for them after serving out his suspension.

Past Meeting

The last time these two teams met this season Manchester City ended up winning the game 3-1 thanks to three first half goals from the midfield trio of Fernando, David Silva and Yaya Toure. Brown Ideye scored West Brom’s consolation goal in the 86th minute.

Where they are in the table

2nd – Manchester City – 29 games – 58 points – (+31 GD)

13th – West Brom – 29 games – 33 points – (-9 GD)
