Manchester City vs Newcastle United – Manchester City to win by more than 2 goals, one more slip-up and City could find themselves out of the title race. They won’t let that happen though and will make a Statement on Saturday.
2015 has been a struggle for the defending Premier League Champions; they have picked just 9 points in their last 6 games and have conceded a 7 point lead to Chelsea at the top of the table.
Adding to their struggles in the league they were also knocked out of the FA Cup in the 4th round by Championship side Middlesbrough. City though has started to show some signs of a comeback with a handsome 4-1 win over Stoke last week.
City has a tough draw against Barcelona in the Champions League midweek so a positive result here is of utmost importance. The arrival of Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony should give a huge boost to the team. The latter of the two will probably make his debut for the club after joining from Swansea last month.
James Milner will be out for City with a Knee injury but Sergio Aguero should be back from them after recovering from his minor back problem.
Manchester City has won their last 10 matches against Newcastle in the league and in the last four Premier League meetings between the two teams the score reads 12-0 in City’s favour. City has not managed to pick up a single win in their last three home matches.
Newcastle United look set to for another mid-table finish; they are 11th in league right now with 32 points. Their form since the start of the year has been dreadful picking up just 6 points in 6 games.
Their last game was a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Newcastle’s recent away form has been dreadful winning just one of their last seven matches.
Newcastle were dealt with a huge blow with news that Paul Dummett will be out for three months hence further weakening their defence. Cheick Tiote who took a nasty fall in training will also be out for the Magpies.
The last time these two teams met in the Premier League this season Manchester City won 2-0 with ease with goals from Sergio Aguero and David Silva.
Newcastle however stunned Manchester City in the League Cup 4th round this season with 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium with goals from Aarons and Sissoko.
