Leicester v Arsenal – Prediction

Winner-Betting-Tips-Odds-Prediction-Leicester-v-Arsenal-2016-17

It was for the first time since the 1953/54 season that the top two teams from the previous season had lost their respective opening games. Leicester were handed a shock by newly promoted side Hull City while Arsenal were totally outplayed for most of the game by Liverpool.

Both these teams come into this game in need of a positive result. Leicester do have the pace up front to trouble Arsenal’s makeshift defense which was exposed by Liverpool last game. It promises to be a open game with the Foxes possibly getting the winner close to the end of 90 minutes.

Verdict: Leicester Win (2-1)

Betting Tips – Leicester v Arsenal

1. Leicester Win – 2.95 (888 Sport)

The possibilities for all three results are there heading into this game. Arsenal despite their defeat to Liverpool showed they can score for fun if they get their act together. Leicester on the other hand do have quality upfront to tear up the fragile Arsenal defense of Robert Holding and Calum Chambers.

The odds for a Arsenal win is at 2.35 (Marathon Bet) while the odds for a draw is around 3.60 (Bet 365). The odds on offer for each result are good enough but we have a feeling Leicester are going to add to Wenger’s misery.

2. Anytime Scorer – Jamie Vardy – 2.60 (Bet 365)

Another bet with a fairly good odd. Jamie Vardy was uncharacteristically poor in front of goal last game. He will be looking to make amends for those misses with a goal here. He scored twice in their previous fixture at this ground and we back him to get atleast a goal here.

In the Arsenal ranks the availability of Olivier Giroud is still unclear. If he does get to make an appearance in the game then he’s a good pick to score one for Arsenal – 2.65 (888 Sport)

3. Over 2.5 Goals – 2.30 (Marathon Bet)

The games between these rarely disappoint in terms of goal. With the defensive troubles both teams have been having we expect a good amount of goals in this one.

4. Match Special – A sub to score in 90 minutes – 3.50 (Paddypower)

Leicester come into this game on the back of shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hull City last week. It was for the first time in the Premier League era that the defending champions lost their opening day fixture. The loss should however knock off any complacency among their ranks.

Leicester has had some positives heading into the game with Riyad Mahrez signing a new 4 year contract with the club. The Algerian International who was rumored to a target for Arsenal has decided to stay with the club atleast for another year.

Two of the three defeats Leicester suffered last season came against Arsenal home and away. The Foxes in fact are on a 19 game win less run against Gunners in the Premier League. They’ve drawn 6 and lost 13 of those 19 matches. If Leicester are to lose the game against Arsenal then it’ll be first time since 1981/82 that the English top flight champions lose their opening two games of the season.

If Leicester do get the win on Saturday then it will be Ranieri’s 100th win as manager in the Premier League.

Leicester will be bolstered by the return of Robert Huth who had missed their opener against Hull due to suspension. Ranieri has no other injuries or suspensions to worry about and will be fielding his strongest line up.

Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez had a poor showing against Liverpool but with the Arsenal squad growing thinner by each week he will have to return to form sooner rather than latter - Leicester v Arsenal

Arsenal come into this game on the back of 4-3 opening day defeat against Liverpool. The scoreline could have been worse for the Gunners if not for the performances of substitutes Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. The pressure is on Wenger who has failed to make an significant impact in the transfer window apart from the addition of Granit Xhaka.

The Gunners to be fair are plagued by injuries but that hasn’t forced Wenger into adding any additional reinforcements. The French coach who is in his last year of contract with Arsenal will need to turn things around sooner rather than latter. If not the chants “Wenger Out” with only gather strength by each passing week.

The defeat to Liverpool ended their 10 game unbeaten run they carried over from last season

Arsenal’s only defeat against Leicester in their last 31 league and cup ties came in their first ever meeting in the league back in 1994/95. The defeat last Saturday meant Arsenal have lost 3 of their last 4 opening day fixtures.

The Gunners do have some serious injuries concerns heading into the game on Saturday. Ramsey and Alex Iwobi have both been ruled out for a month after picking up injuries against Liverpool. They join the likes of Per Metersacker and Gabriel Paulista both of whom are a month or two away from returning. The depleted squad could mean that Wenger may field the trio Ozil, Giroud and Koscielny against Leicester despite not being 100% match fit.
