The Dave Matthews Band Concert in San Francisco

The Dave Matthews Band is a well-known American rock group from Charlottesville, Virginia. It kick started in the early 1990´s under the tuition of the legendary musician Fenton Williams and since then have been known as DMB.

The band is comforted by Dave Matthews as the lead singer, bassist Stefan Lessar, drummer Carter Beauford, and saxophonist Jeff Coffin. The original saxophonist was LeRoi Moore, but he died after a fatal accident in a sports vehicle. Jeff Coffin from the Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones, a Grammy Award winner, was brought in to replace him. In more recent years other musicians have joined the band, Rashawn Ross and Tim Reynolds.

Although the band belongs to the punk rock era of the 90´s, it began to lift off with renewed popularity in 2009 till today, thanks to 6 consecutive Billboard number one albums, an industry record. Their 2009 album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, were their launching album to stardom.

Here is a little taste of the Dave Matthews Band best song, “Crash into Me”:

Their latest album was released in 2012, Away from the World, and since then they have been touring around America and Europe extensively. What is particularly interesting about the Dave Matthews Band is how they improvise in the middle segment of every concert, changing songs or its play style and extending their duration. All of their shows are accompanied by amazing light and video exhibitions, which makes them the perfect band to start the Super Bowl 50 engines.
