Chelsea-vs-UnitedChelsea vs Manchester United – Prediction

1-1 Draw, Chelsea have played like champions through out the season. They won games by dominating opponents early on in the season and milked out results when the games got tough. A win against old foes United will help them move a few steps closer to lifting the title and for Mourinho it’s a chance to get one over his former mentor.

For United and Louis Van Gaal it’s a chance to show how much they’ve progressed since their last game against Chelsea. They are still not in the clear as far the fight for the top 4 is concerned but a win here should seal the deal.

Betting Tips and Odds

Chelsea win – 2

Draw – 3.5

Manchester United win – 4.2

  • It’s too close to call a winner here United have been terrific over the last few games while Chelsea have been on a patchy run of form where they have been narrowly getting the wins.
  • Mourinho however is a master of raising his game against the big teams and he might just pull one over United this time.
  • Chelsea win looks a good bet but we are sticking with a draw.
  • Our best bet for this game is the Under 2.5 at 1.9. We can see this being a tight nervy game that might not see the scores being opened till half time.

Chelsea

Loic-Remy

Loic Remy hasn’t had the greatest of starts to his Chelsea career with just 8 starts and 7 goals all season however he has a chance to prove himself against United on Saturday (skysports.com)

They haven’t been at their best over the last few months yet they’ve managed to get results and are coming into this game on the back of three back to back wins and a hand on this year’s Premier League trophy.

The Blues who have game in hand has a 7 point lead over 2nd placed Arsenal. The Blues however still have to face the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and a resurgent Crystal Palace this season so there are more than enough opportunities for them to slip up.

Since their defeat at the hands of Spurs on New year’s day Chelsea are undefeated in the league winning 8 and drawing 3.

Chelsea are yet to taste defeat at home this season infact the only team to have beaten them at home this season was League One outfit Bradford City in the FA Cup 4th round.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four clashes with United and have conceded just two goals in those four games. Cesc Fabregas’s winner against QPR last week was their 100th goal in all competitions this season but the worrying part for Chelsea is that the shot by Fabregas was their only shot on target in the whole match.

Diego Costa still remains out for Chelsea but Chelsea’s no.2 striker this season Loic Remy should be fit for the United clash after missing out last week against QPR.

Manchester United

Micheal-Carrick

United have won 12 and lost just one of their 16 games in which Micheal Carrick has featured so him being ruled out will be a big blow for the Manchester Reds
(dailystar.co.uk)

What a couple of months it has been for Manchester United. From looking destined to drop out of the top 4 they have bounced back and have put together a string of 6 wins in a row during which they’ve beaten the likes of Liverpool, Spurs and Manchester City.

United have eight point gap between with them and Liverpool in 5th and with just 6 games to go it seems Louis Van Gaal has gotten them back to Europe’s elite next season.

They still have to face Arsenal, Everton and Palace this season so some form of result against Chelsea will help them a great deal in affirming their top 4 status.

In the last decade United have won only once at Stamford Bridge, a 3-2 win in the 2012/13 season. United have already collected more points than did in the whole of last season however United have scored only 19 goals and won just 5 of their 15 away games this season.

Louis Van Gaal has some injury troubles heading into the game with Micheal Carrick, Daley Blind, Phil Jones ad Marcos Rojo all ruled out however United will be boosted by the returns of Luke Shaw and Robin Van Persie.

Past Meeting

The last time these two teams met this season United held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw. Chelsea took the lead early in the second through a Didier Drobga goal. The Blues looked set for the win as the game headed into the second half injury time however chaos ensued which result in Ivanovic being questionably send off and Robin Van Persie scored from the resulting free kick.

Where they are in table
