Burnley -vs-Manchester CityBurnley vs Manchester City – Prediction

Manchester City to win 3-1, It won’t be easy for City especially against a Burnley that seemingly raises their game each time they play a top side. City’s experience and talent should get them through but not without a fight.

Sergio Aguero who is Premier League joint top scorer this season with 17 so far is a good bet to add to his count but if you feel adventurous i would suggest you go for Yaya Toure or Wilfred Bony.

 Burnley

George-Boyd

Based on performances Burnley don’t deserve to be in the bottom three, they’ve played their heart out in the most of their matches but results just haven’t gone their way.

They come into this match on the back of disappointing 2-0 loss against Liverpool last week. They are currently 19th in the table and can move out of the relegation spots with a win here provided other results go their way.

Burnley needs another 13 points to reach what might be this season’s safety barrier – 35 points. After their clash against Manchester City they face the likes of Southampton, Spurs and Arsenal back to back.

After the Arsenal game though they have relatively easy run of games to finish the season off. Not much can be expected from their next four games but three points from them can help them a great deal in fight for safety towards the end of the season.

Burnley gave one of their best performances this season when they last met Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium . If they can deliver a similar performance then as they say nothing is impossible.

Burnley have managed only one win in their last 12 league games and have recorded only 7 seven points during that time.

Midfielder Matt Taylor is still not fully fit to return but might be available for next week’s clash against Southampton.

Manchester City

Vincent-Kompany

City haven’t lost a single game which Kompany has missed this season. (express)

Is the title race over?

NO! Not by a long shot but if Manchester City don’t get back to their dominant former self’s  then Chelsea will soon be out of their reach and they might even get dragged into the fight for the Champions League spots.

City are only 5 points behind Chelsea but the league leaders do have a game in hand and that to against QPR.

Citizens come into this match on the back of a nervy 2-0 win over Leicester City, they have only managed to pick up 16 points from their last 10 games and that isn’t stat suiting a potential champion.

Manchester City do have a Champions League round of 16 2nd leg clash against Barcelona coming up midweek so Pelligrini might just have eye on that game were they need to score atleast two goals to progress.

Apart from matches against Manchester United, Tottenham and Southampton Manchester City do have pretty easy run of games till the end of the season.

City do have a good record at Turf Moor with their aggregate score from their last three visits being 16 – 3.

It will interesting to see whether out of form captain Vincent Kompany gets back into the team however City haven’t lost a single game which Kompany has missed this season.

Pelligrini will be happy with the fact that he has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Past Meeting

The last time these two teams met this season City as expected raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from David Silva and Fernandinho however Burnley were not going down without a fight and a spirited performance from them in the second half saw them draw the game 2-2 with goals from George Boyd and Ashley Barnes.

Where they are in the table

 19th – Burnley – 28 games – 22 points – (-22 GD)

2nd – Manchester City – 28 games – 58 points – (+32 GD)
