Arsenal vs leicesterWhere are they now?

Arsenal – 6th – 24 games – 42 points – Goal Difference (+18)

Leicester City – 20th – 24 games – 17 points – Goal Difference (-17)

Arsenal

On paper this should be a no-brainier Arsenal should win this match by flooding the Leicester goal but then again with Arsenal you can never be sure.

Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal’s leading scorer Alexis Sanchez

After a run of 5 consecutive wins which included a away win against defending champions Manchester City and a 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, Arsenal lost the last league game against derby rivals Spurs on Saturday 2-1.

Leicester City was the last team Arsenal went through in their 03-04 “Invincible” campaign in which they beat the Foxes 2-1.

Arsenal has been dominant against the teams from the bottom half of the table this season, they have won 8 matches, drawn 3 and haven’t lost a single match.

Arsenal will be boosted by the return of Alexis Sanchez who is free from his hamstring problems. However Arsenal will still be missing both Jack Wilshire and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain ,the latter may be missing for another two weeks.

Leicester City

Kissing

Looks like Nigel Pearson is going for the Kiss. Scratch that kill!

Leicester starts the week at the bottom of the table and has been there for the last 12 weeks. Leicester can however move out of the bottom with a win here provided QPR lose their match his week.

Leicester lost their last game versus Crystal Palace 1-0 but it was the actions of their Nigel Pearson that gathered more attention than the defeat itself.

Pearson was seen grabbing Crystal Palace’s James McArthur by his throat. Pearson said he reacted so because of something McArthur said. The FA has decided not to punish him but have warned Pearson.

These kinds of incidents take attention away from the real problems at the club and if the club doesn’t work on the “problems” Leicester can say – “bye bye” to Premier League at the end of the season.

Leicester luckily are still in touch with other teams who are at the bottom and so they need to start producing results soon, a string of 3 or 4 matches with positive results will see them out of the relegation zone.

Unfortunately for Leicester there record against Arsenal in the Premier league is just sad. They have beaten the Gunners only once in 17 attempts and that win came way back in 1994.

Leicester has failed to score in 13 out of the 24 games this season and have the  second worst record in the league behind Aston Villa.

Robert Huth could make his debut for the club while both Kasper Schmeichel and Chris wood will still be missing through injuries.

Previous meeting

Last team these two teams meet this season, the third game of the season  the match ended 1-1 with Sanchez scoring first for Arsenal and Leonardo Ulloa equalizing soon after for the foxes.

Prediction

Arsenal vs Leicester City – 2-0 Arsenal win, they have just lost in a Derby and will be looking to get back to their groove and willing be showing Leicester no mercy.

But for the sake of the league I hope Leicester picks up a win, could spice things up at the top and at the bottom.
