Arsenal vs Everton Prediction

Arsenal-vs-EvertonEverton to win 1-0, like some of the other matches this week this one is also too close to call. Arsenal will struggle if they don’t get a early goal and coming of one of their worst performances this season they need a result here to get their confidence back-up.

Arsenal

Per-Mertesacker

Per Mertesacker produced an absolute horror against Monaco in the Champions League

Arsenal were humiliated, beaten and are facing the embarrassing prospect of being eliminated from the champions league round of 16 for the fifth consecutive season after losing 3-1 to AS Monaco at home in the first leg. They will need to score atleast three goals in the away leg at Monaco if they are to progress.

What’s worrying for Arsenal was the woeful show by some of its players including Mertesacker, M.Ozil, F.Coquelin and O.Giroud.

Arsenal has been in impressive form in the league off-late winning five out of their last six games. Gunners’ home form in the league has been even more impressive winning all their last six matches.

They are currently 3rd in the table and needs to keep picking up results to maintain their 3rd position in the table. A couple of bad weeks can see them slip to as low as 7th in the table with the teams being so close in the league.

Arsenal can be brilliant on their day with the incredible amount of talent they have in their team and they need to be at their best if they are to overcome Everton on Sunday.

Wilshire’s return to the Arsenal line-up will be delayed for a few more days as he underwent a minor ankle surgery. The duo of Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini are unlikely to return on Sunday.

Everton

Romelu-Lukaku

Everton’s man in form Romelu Lukaku

Everton have 28 points from 26 games heading into Sundays game. At the same stage last season Everton had 45 points. Everton have been poor all season and each time they look like their former selves they revert back to disappointing performance similar to their last against Leicester City.

They have won just one of their last 10 matches in the league and are just 6 points above the drop zone. The most worrying stat related to Everton this season is that they have dropped 17 points from winning positions.

Their inability to finish off teams sees them closer to the relegation spots than to the top 4. Everton are over-dependent on the former Chelsea man Romelu Lukaku who he has been in decent scoring form of late with 8 from his last 10 matches.

Everton come into this match on the back of an impressive Europa league win over BSC Young Boys they had already won the first leg 4-1 and further went on to imprint their superiority with a 3-1 win in the second leg.

Everton have not won any of their last 18 away matches to Arsenal losing 14 and drawing 4. Lukaku had a hamstring scare midweek but should be fit for the clash on Sunday. John Stones and Aaron Lennon return from suspension to further boost the Everton squad.

Past Meeting

Last time these two teams met this season it resulted in a highly entertaining 2-2 draw, Everton were the better team for most of the game and scored twice in the 19th (Coleman) and 45th minute (Naismith) to take a 2-0 lead but Arsenal would make a remarkable come back by scoring 2 goals in the final seven minutes to earn a point

Where they are in table

3rd – Arsenal – 26 games – 48 points

12th – Everton – 26 games – 28 points
